How to trim a video
- Choose your video. Drop it into the box above or click Choose video.
- Set the start and end. Play the preview, pause where the clip should begin and click Use current time. Do the same for the end — or type the times in seconds.
- Pick a mode. Fast keeps the original quality and finishes in seconds. Accurate cuts on the exact frame.
- Click Trim video and download your clip.
Fast vs. accurate trimming
Fast mode copies the video and audio streams without re-encoding them. It is almost instant and keeps 100% of the original quality, but it can only cut on a keyframe — so the clip may start up to a few seconds earlier than the time you chose. It keeps your original format (MP4 stays MP4, MOV stays MOV).
Accurate mode re-encodes the clip so it starts and ends on the exact frame you picked. It takes longer, especially for long clips, and always produces an MP4. Use it when timing matters — for example when cutting a reaction, a goal, or a line of dialogue.
| Fast | Accurate | |
|---|---|---|
| Speed | Seconds | Depends on clip length |
| Quality | Identical to original | Visually lossless |
| Cut precision | Nearest keyframe | Exact frame |
| Output | Same format as input | MP4 |
Ideas for trimming
- Cut the silence at the start and end of a screen recording before sharing it.
- Pull a short highlight out of a long gameplay or sports video.
- Shorten a clip to fit a story, reel or status length limit.
- Prepare a short clip before turning it into a GIF or compressing it.
Private by design
The trimming happens on your device. Your video is never uploaded, so it is safe for family videos, client footage and anything you would rather not send to a stranger's server.
Supported formats
MP4, MOV, WEBM, MKV, AVI and M4V. If your browser cannot preview a format (some MKV and AVI files), you can still type the start and end times and trim it.
